December in the Sun

As I am able to chose where I work from, this year for the first time in my life, I have been able to get away from the falling UK temperatures.

Since I got serious about working for myself in the middle of 2017 I have had ups and downs, some quiet months and some much better.

Although I am a firm believer in having more than one stream of income, my main source has meant that I am able to get away.

So myself and my fab Wife are currently enjoying the Floridian weather. Watch our for Paddington as he has come with us.

Having left home at 3.30 am, to catch our

transport, we arrived at London Heathrow at 6.30am, to be met by the rest of our party, as planned (this is a good start!).

Check-in went smoothly as did security, although I did have to go in the x-ray booth!

Then we just had to do some shopping, grab a light breakfast, served by Tina, and we were ready to go.

Excitement now building up.

Virgin team were awesome on the plane, a few seats empty near the back so we were allowed to spread ourselves out, making it much more comfortable.

Bravo Virgin!

Very well looked after for the whole of our flight, even the in flight entertainment was enjoyable.
The food as reasonable as expected.

Delighted to Say we have arrived, here in Miami, US immigration, was new to us with their Passport scanners and ID machines, and we didn't even mind the Chap in charge stopping everyone of his team from getting us through for a Huddle, just as it was our turn!!

Got a really talkative Taxi driver to take us to our hotel, but at least we were safe.

So a few days at Miami beach to go......More of our adventure to follow.

You know you too can be like we are and work to your own schedules, and in places where the weather is definitely better that the UK at this time of the year.

Online Marketing Myths You Probably Believe

Marketing online is already incredibly difficult. Sure, you have the entirety of the internet to appeal to, but it also means that you’re competing against countless other online marketers. The internet is a vast place and standing out against a sea of competitors isn’t an easy feat, but a successful online marketing campaign can easily bring you the customers you’re looking for.
Unfortunately, many marketers are far too misguided about what they think works and doesn’t work on the internet. Many marketers go barking up the wrong tree so to speak and end up wasting time and resources on fruitless endeavors. Here are just a few commonly held myths that end up hurting marketers:
Myth #1: We need to be on as many social media platforms as possible.

It’s true that you certainly want to get your message out to as many people as possible, but not all audiences equally deserve your attention. There are countless social media platforms to take advantage of–Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Snapchat, Twitter, Pinterest, etc.—but that doesn’t mean you need to use all of them.
Each social media platform has a different audience and those audiences are all interested in different things. Do you think a company like Tastemade that markets by making cooking videos would have as much success on LinkedIn as they do on Facebook? Would a company for elderly people like Life Alert want to market on Snapchat where 71% of its members are under 34?
Rather than trying to spread yourself thin, choose the most ideal platforms and focus your efforts there. You can expand your marketing efforts when you can acquire more overhead, but it’s best to play to your strengths while still starting out.
Myth #2: My company needs to be #1 on SEO results for important keywords.

SEO can be a difficult game to play and it’s never easy to get to the top of a Google search for popular keywords. For example, if you are running a shoe store, it would be very nice to be the first result when someone types “shoes” into Google.
However, it might be more beneficial and realistic to aim for mastering long tail keywords—that is longer and more specific phrases. Long tail keywords make up 70% of Google searches and generally indicate that a consumer is more willing to convert and purchase than a short tail generic search.
For example, “shoes” is a short tail keyword that might be used for someone who’s simply browsing the internet while someone who uses long tail keywords like “black dress shoes,” “good running shoes,” “cheap sneakers,” or “sandals for summer” are probably ready to buy.
Myth #3: This other company is doing it, so, why can’t we?
It’s tempting to look at successful companies and try and imitate what they’re doing. Sometimes it works such as when Instagram copies Snapchat’s story features and ended up beating Snapchat at their own game. However, this isn’t always the case.
Take the example of the Amazon Fire Phone: Amazon’s short-lived attempt at entering the smartphone market. The phone’s multiple flaws and inability to stand up to Samsung or Apple means that its obituary was written rather quickly. On the other hand, Amazon has been instrumental in killing Borders and has companies like Sears, Macy’s, and Best Buy on the ropes.
The takeaway is that what works for one company doesn’t work for everyone else. If it did, every company would be doing the same thing. You have a different audience, different brand, different mission, and a different set of values. Find your own unique voice.
Myth #4: Email is dead. Long live the new social media king.

Social media might be the new big thing, but don’t count out email just yet. Believe it or not, a study from McKinsey & Company found that companies acquire new customers via email 40 times more than they do on Facebook and Twitter combined.  The study also found that 91% of consumers check their email every day, make purchases three times more often via email than via social media, and that they order 17% more when ordering via email.
Clearly, there is a lot of misinformation in the air as to how online marketing should be done. Knowing what works and what doesn’t work can mean the difference between life and death for your company. For more handy internet marketing tips, check out my done-for-you system.

How to Create a Lead Magnet to Grow Your Email List

If you’re resting all your marketing ambitions on the hope that first-time visitors will make a purchase, you’re going to have trouble making any money. Only about 1% of visitors are ready to make a purchase during their first visit. On average, you’ll need about 4 or 5 points of contact before getting a sale.

A lead magnet is designed to help you capture the email address of these visitors so that you can direct them back to your sales funnel. They’re designed for the 99% of prospects that leave your site without making a purchase.
So, if you want to gain these email addresses, you should take the time to create an effective lead magnet.
Research Your Competitor’s Lead Magnets
First, you’ll need to look at your competitor’s lead magnets. Look at the offers that they provide. You shouldn’t copy their offers. But, you can use your research to ensure that you’re offering something original and more appealing than what your competition is offering.
This research will give you a better sense of what your potential buyers want. Use this information as you choose your offer. Generally, these offers will fall into one of these categories:
  • PDF, eBook, or downloadable guide
  • Video tutorial
  • Webinars
  • Discounts or coupons
The medium that you choose for your offer will depend on your market. PDFs and other readable content are useful when you don’t have a tangible product.
So, if you offer digital goods or services, your customers will expect digital offers. Though, downloadable content can be applied to almost any industry.
When creating your offer, the medium is not nearly as important as the actual content. Whether you film a video tutorial or put together a downloadable guide, you need to choose a topic that your potential buyers are interested in.
Researching the Top Concerns of Your Potential Buyers
Researching the top concerns of your potential buyers will help you choose a topic for your lead magnet. People want solutions. They want valuable information. You’ll provide them with the answers or facts that they need.
There are several ways to learn more about the top concerns of your target demographic. You can search forums and communities. Look at the questions that people ask most frequently on these websites.
You can also look at social media comments. This includes comments on both your own social media accounts and the accounts of your competition. Social media is the preferred method of communication for most consumers.
A little bit of keyword research can also help you find a topic. See what keyword phrases are searched for most frequently. Focus on keyword searches related to questions or concerns.
After you’ve researched the top concerns of your potential buyers, you’ll have a topic to discuss. Make this topic the focus of your free content. Then, this content together in a PDF, video, or webinar.
Create a Killer Title and Sub-title
Once you have an offer, the rest is easy. You just need a great title and sub-title. Be specific and keep your title simple. Address the problem or concern that you promise to solve in your free content.
The sub-title follows up on this promise by telling visitors what they’ll find on this page. Make it obvious to your visitors what they’re about to read.
This same tip applies to the rest of your web page. Keep the content simple and direct. You need to stick to the point. The entire goal of the page is to get visitors to sign up to your email list by offering free content. Make sure that they understand exactly what they’re about to sign up for.
A lead magnet is an invaluable tool used for growing your email list. But, there are more steps that you can take. If you’d like more powerful marketing tips, as well as a way to generate conversion-ready internet marketing prospects every month, click here to learn about my done-for-you system.

Many Pre-Retirees Don't Know How Much Money They Need

A majority of baby boomers and Generation X workers and millennials do not know how much they need to save for retirement.
According to a recent survey by the Limra Secure Retirement Institute.

The Majority Of Baby Boomer Households Have Less Than $100,000 In Retirement Savings

Sixty percent of boomers (born between 1946 and 1964) and Gen Xers (born between the mid-1960s and mid1980s) and 70% of millennials (born between the mid-1980s and mid-2000s) are in the dark about the amount of savings they will need, Limra says.

More than half of the boomers surveyed have less than $100,000 in retirement savings, and more than one-third have less than $25,000, the survey of 2,000 working Americans shows.

Whichever group you are in, those who have not made plans for their retirement are going to be short of funds, even in my personal experience, my first pension stated I would have a salary of £11000 per annum, not so bad as I was only on £12000 at the time, however, it is still only going to pay out £11000 and last year I earned £50000, not so good.

Even with some money from the State pension, there is not going to be an annual figure close to last years, Should I need that much, well, look at Prices, even if the RPI and Inflation figures stay low they are still going up, and that is across everything. So what sounded like a great deal at the time has suffered the effects of the low interest rates around the world.

I have taken out other pensions along the way but they still do not meet my final salary figure, to counter that I have had to look else where to make sure there is enough money a available to me when I want to stop the Daily grind, and my self and my Wife can then tick off all those places and things we want to see and do, I looked at Investing on the Stock Market, which can be exciting, if you trade daily, you can't stop looking at the screen, if you go long term then you get to watch your funds, like paint drying! So this is a possible way to grow a pot for later life, and many use it, the cyclic nature of the markets does mean that your stocks will at some point fall, if you are savvy you can get an upside when the markets fall, if you pay a broker they can support you.

After much looking and trying and not really building much of a fund, I came across this, the system is called the Ultimate Retirement Breakthrough, introduced to it through my good friends The Beesley's, for a small start up fee I was in and introduced to the 21 Step training programme, some of which was recapping on my knowledge, the rest was new learning for me and showed me how to get traffic, grow my list and get convert my prospective customers into buyers. There is work to do with this but the rewards, in terms of earnings were good and I really felt that I had earned it as well.

I am going tell you more about to The Ultimate Retirement Breakthrough
