Canada Tops the World!


Canadians rank first in the world when it comes to Internet usage, spending an average of 45 hours per month online. Canadians also spend more for broadband speed than 19 other internet-using countries.

These are just a couple of facts pulled from the Canadian Internet Registration Authority’s new 2013.CA Factbook, a compendium of research and data about the global domain name industry and .CA’s place therein. It also provides a glimpse into the state of the Internet in Canada.
“I believe that Canadians will find the information within the Factbook revealing,” says CIRA’s president and CEO, Byron Holland. “From the increasing consumption of media content online to the continued growth of .CA, the Factbook provides a snapshot of an Internet landscape in Canada and around the world that is constantly evolving.”

According to the Factbook, 49% of Canadians strongly prefer .ca versus 17% for .com for business; per viewer, Canada leads the world in viewing online video; and during the last five years, global registrations for domain names were up 70 per cent to almost 240 million domains online.

The site also reveals that Canada’s internet economy accounted for 3% of Canada’s Gross Domestic Product in 2012, totaling $49 billion. And while it’s expected to grow 7.4% per year through 2016, it still falls short of the G20 GDP average of more than 4%.

So the Question I have for You is how are you going to make these facts benefit you?

In real terms there is such an opportunity out there to interact and make money with your own people, instead of trying to get buyers in far flung countries.

Before you’ve released your eBook, include an opt-in form at the end of your blog posts. After the release of your eBook, link to the location where they can purchase or download your eBook.
Offer Your eBook for Free for a Limited Time

After releasing your eBook, consider giving it away for several days, as part of a promotion. This should provide you with a handful of downloads. These early readers are more likely to leave positive reviews, as they received the eBook for free.
With a handful of good reviews, you’re on the path towards an increasing interest in your eBook. If you decide to release your book through Amazon, you’ll be able to set up a period where your eBook is available for free.
Create a PPC Campaign for Your eBook
Once you’ve released your eBook, use a PPC campaign to help attract more readers. PPC campaigns provide a cost effective solution for marketing your eBook.
Google owns about 67% of the PPC market. But, they’re not your only option for paid advertising. You could also advertise on Facebook or promote your tweets on Twitter.
Add Positive Reviews to Your Landing Pages
Once you start getting positive reviews coming in, include several excerpts on your landing pages. This is similar to adding testimonials to a landing page. It shows visitors that you have something of value.
